Evidence seemed to indicate that Gerry and his wife, Carolyn, were somehow tied into this illegal activity. Janet’s ability to deal with her gruff boss created a working relationship in which Gerry began to display a deeper regard and trust in her. And with his growing paranoia, she found herself attending glamourous parties, at his invitation, to mingle with other notable guests in hopes of discovering any deceitful or ‘traitorous’ information, that might affect his business or personal activities.
In addition to this and other typical duties as his personal secretary, she also had the opportunity to meet notable people including two of his prized movie stars, such as the self-absorbed and demanding Tiffany Miles, and the charming Hunter Blake. An unexpected friendship with him provided Janet some insight to the man and his character that would eventually lead to a trusting but plutonic relationship.
In the midst of the Team’s activities, Janet is still plague by uncertainties and especially with regard to her newly declared relationship to a man presumed to be her biological father. Issues of trust mount, nearly to a breaking point for her, until she receives another piece to the puzzle regarding her parentage. Now armed with the truth, Janet must keep the news a secret and at the same time performed her expected duties for the team.
At the same time, Hunter’s relationship with Gerry slowly begins to degrade due to contract issues. But it also appears he is either directly involved in Gerry’s illegal business dealings, or else being used as a decoy or possible scapegoat. In an attempt to determine the truth, a team member, Craig, goes undercover and travels to Cabo San Lucas to uncover any information he can while Hunter is enjoying a weekend away with the Allensby’s. Unfortunately, his cover is blown when he finds his hotel room ransacked. Now Craig has to get out of the area as quickly as possible and cut off all communication with the rest of the team.
Concerns continue to escalate as Janet, and the others go into a discovery mode of their own in their attempt to determine who may have tipped someone off how to help Craig successfully escape his pursuers.
